Environment + human performance
Light. Sound. Air. Temperature. Movement. Visual demand. Privacy. Proximity.
What are the conditions asking of them?
These conditions do not replace leadership, culture, workload, psychological safety or good management. They sit alongside them.
Yet when concentration, performance or wellbeing becomes difficult, organisations frequently begin with the person. Resilience. Mindfulness. Time management. Coaching. Training.
My work asks another question.
Facilities manages the building.
People and culture manages the people.
Safety manages risk.
Leaders manage performance.
Designers design spaces.
But who examines what happens between the environment and the human being experiencing it?
That is where my work sits. Environment and human performance. I bring together space, neuroscience, human biology and the rituals of everyday life, because most approaches look at one piece and the relationship between them is the part nobody is examining.
Not to diagnose people. Not to prescribe a universal perfect workplace. But to give organisations another way to examine the conditions in which they are asking people to perform.

Twenty years designing and delivering real environments, not simply writing about them. Award-winning learning environments, homes and workplaces. Real budgets, real constraints and real people.
A named system in a fixed order, with the reason each step cannot come earlier, and an evidence base with its limits written down.
Your own people able to read your own floor, in language they can keep using after I have gone.
Across 2,403 employees in Denmark, people working in open plan with more than six others. An association in one cohort, not a law, and I state it with its limits rather than round it up. Pejtersen et al., 2011
Burned out employees, actively seeking another job. Nearly thirteen thousand people. Replacing them is the part finance already understands. Gallup, 2019
Ask why people will not come back and the answers come back as commute and flexibility, because those are the reasons people have language for. Underneath sit noise they cannot predict, no privacy, and nowhere to recover.
A provocative introduction to the performance variable people are already sitting inside. Your audience leaves noticing something they could not see when they entered.
A deeper, participatory experience where teams learn to recognise environmental signals and begin applying the lens themselves.
Independence is the product. Not a report that needs me to interpret it, and not a fit out attached to an invoice. The language and the principles, so your own people can go on reading the conditions themselves.
The one sentence
